Rabbi Jeffrey B. Kamins has served as rabbi at Emanuel Synagogue for 20 years, the last ten years as senior rabbi. He is committed to principles of egalitarianism, inclusion and diversity within the synagogue and the broader community.

Rabbi Kamins sees text-based education as a means for understanding the wisdom of our ancestors and being better able to implement Torah values in contemporary times. He serves on the board of the Shalom Institute, and as one of the rabbinic consultants to Emanuel School, the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies and the Executive Council of Australian Jewry.

Rabbi Jacqueline Ninio was born in Adelaide in 1967. She attended Adelaide University where she completed a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Law degree. Rabbi Ninio then attended Hebrew Union College Jewish Institute of Religion where she obtained a Master of Arts in Hebrew Letters and rabbinic ordination in 1998, making her the seventh Australian born progressive rabbi and the third Australian born female rabbi.

Rabbi Ninio joined Emanuel Synagogue in 1998 and was the congregation’s first female rabbi. She is interested in the areas of midrash and liturgy and has a passion for storytelling. During her sabbatical in 1995 Rabbi Ninio studied Jewish folk stories and storytelling. Rabbi Ninio has established a women’s Rosh Chodesh group, and a number of child-focused celebrations and events such as MyPlaySpace and Shabbat tot. Rabbi Ninio believes in the centrality and importance of community, and providing a place where people feel valued, included and treasured. Rabbi Ninio is married and has one child.

Rabbi Paul J. Jacobson

Rabbi Paul J. Jacobson joined the Emanuel Synagogue team in July 2006. Born in the United States, Rabbi Jacobson received his Bachelor of Arts in History and Spanish with College Honours from Washington University in St Louis. He then completed his Masters of Arts in Hebrew Letters with Hebrew Union College - Cincinnati, and was ordained as a rabbi in May 2006. Rabbi Jacobson has also been accredited as a chaplain with the NSW Disaster Recovery Network.

Since moving to Sydney, Rabbi Jacobson has enjoyed participating in synagogue and communal events. He has created programmes like “Pizza with the Rabbi” for post-b’nei mitzvah students, “Yallah” for young adults, and has succeeded in encouraging more members of the congregation to become involved in Torah reading and other activities. Rabbi Jacobson and his wife Lisa (a native Sydneysider) like to read, watch movies, go to the gym, and spend time with friends and family.

Dr Orna Triguboff

Dr Orna Triguboff is a rabbi at Emanuel Synagogue. She has a Ph.D. from the University of Sydney, in Jewish studies, specializing in Kabbalah. Orna is also a meditation and yoga teacher. She is ordinated as a Jewish Renewal movement rabbi.  Jewish Renewal movement headed by Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi.  Orna is passionate about expressing one’s Jewish identity in creative ways. At Emanuel Synagogue, Orna leads Jewish renewal services and teaches classes such as Torah commentary, Jewish meditation and various aspects of kabbalah.
