Volunteers

Emanuel Synagogue relys on the support of our volunteers to assist in various projects. We are fortunate to have dedicated members who give their time and heartfelt support to our many projects:

  • Volunteers assist us with our Purim Childrens Activities.
  • Our hamentaschen makers are well renowned and have been assisting us with the production of over 1000 hamentaschen each year over the past 8 years!
  • Volunteers attend the Exodus Foundation and assist with the serving of Easter Sunday lunch to over 300 people who attend the annual lunch hosted by the Reverend Bill Crewes.
  • We have a loyal band of knitters who work on knitting jumpers for the newborn babies of Emanuel and knit squares for blankets to assist with emergencies.
  • We have volunteer bakers who assist in the kitchen.
  • Each year on the Sunday before Rosh Hashanah a group of volunteers appear in the foyer of the main sanctuary equipped with cleaning materials and they polish the Torah silverware and the pews in the synagogues.
  • The Social Action Committee has an ongoing interfaith project called “Cheese ‘n Toast on Sundays” where volunteers assist with serving food at St Canice’s Church in Kings Cross.

These are just some of the many ways volunteering helps build a stronger community.

If you would like to get involved please contact Belinda on 9328 7833, your support will be greatly appreciated by the congregation and wider community who we help.
